ABOUT MY DAUGHTER:
She is nearly 5 months old. She's a bit small for her age. She weighs almost 13 lbs. She's about 26" in length.
BACKGROUND FOR A SLEEPSACK:
6 months is typically when children start transitioning from a swaddle. Our pediatrician recommends doing it earlier, because that is generally the time that children begin to roll over. It could be a problem if a baby rolls over while their arms are swaddled.
THIS IS COMPOSED FROM:
Muslin Cotton - Muslin is a finely-woven, breathable fabric. The open weave allows for airflow. The cotton is a bit thicker than a lightweight fabric. I'd say it's a medium in thickness.
ABOUT THIS SLEEPSACK:
This sleepsack clearly has openings for legs and feet. It is technically a sleepsack, but I view it as a sleeper for that reason (right or wrong). At any rate, this is a nice sleepsack. It's soft and gentle on the skin and it's breathable. I haven't been able to use it on my baby during the winter months, so I can't comment on how warm/cold it might be at night during that time. I think it's perfect for Spring and Fall though (even Summer if the A/C is on).
FIT:
This sleepsack is a bit big on my 5 month old, but i knew that it would be. She can wear it now, but it is admittedly a bit large on her. Keep in mind that she is small for her age (30th percentile in weight and 20th or so in height if I recall from the previous Pediatrician appointment). I think the 6-12 months is an appropriate fit.
CONCLUSION:
Overall, this sleepsack is just what I was looking for. It's high-quality and safe. It's warm, but breathable. The fit is nice as well, and my child can grow into it in the very near future. If you are looking for a sleepsack, this is certainly a quality option!
