INTRO/ABOUT ME:
I am not a thief, a locksmith or have experience breaking into safes. However, I can provide my impressions based on using the safe.

DIMENSIONS:
Exterior: 11-3/8" x 11-3/8" x 3-1/4"
Interior (max): 7-3/8" x 10-5/8"
Interior (minimum dimensions after accounting for interior protrusions): 6-11/16" x 10-1/4"

PROS:
+ Reliable biometric scanner (if you don't make the mistake I made of swiping my fingerprints)
+ Stores up to 200 fingerprints
+ Has a cable to for securing cable another object
+ No light on the safe, so it won't throw off your vision at night
+ Keys for an alternative access (a must anytime batteries are used with a safe)
+ Removable foam pads give way for a larger safe

CONS:
- No mounting hardware for securing to wall, bed, night stand, etc.
- Less secure than a solid steel safe

OTHER NOTES:
This safe is quite light at 4 lbs 5 oz. That could be good or bad depending on your use for the safe. It might help for a traveling safe (a vehicle safe for instance), but it would be easier to pick up and carry off to a location better suited for busting up the safe.

TIP:
When I first began using this safe, I was using the biometric scanner incorrectly (I should have read the directions first). I was swiping my finger downwards. The safe would open about 30-50% of the time depending on the finger I used. It was frustratingly inconsistent. As a last resort, I read the directions (what can I say, I'm a guy!). When setting up your fingerprints, you should put your finger on the scanner, lift and slightly rotate until the light goes out. When you want to open the safe, just put your finger down and wait for the safe to unlock. This method works nearly 100% of the time! If it didn't, I wouldn't recommend this safe. If you have a gun in the safe and someone breaks in, you don't want to be messing with a fingerprint scanner that works only some of the time! Fortunately, that's not the safe. Finally, keep the keys in a safe spot (where unintended users won't find it) in the event that the batteries run out and the safe won't open.

WHO IS THIS SAFE INTENDED FOR?This is a lighter weight safe that is good for transporting, keeping in your vehicle, attaching to a solid or stable object with the included cable, keeping your handgun (or valuables) safe yet easily accessible, and/or keeping unintended users (like kids or nosey guests) from gaining access using reasonable measures. If you want a safe with a biometric scanner that works, this should work out well for you.

WHO SHOULD LOOK FOR OTHER OPTIONS?If you are looking for a hack-proof safe, I doubt this is it (I doubt one even exists for that matter). I'm sure that a determined individual could take a sawzall or sledgehammer to gain access given enough time. I'm not sure how easy or difficult it might be to pick the lock, so I can't comment on that. If you don't need or want a biometric scanner, I think you can find cheaper options that are just as good.

CONCLUSIONS:
Overall, I'm pleased with the safe. I like that the foam padding can be removed to make way to a larger safe if desired. The fingerprint scanner works well and is consistent. The safe is on the light side, so keep that in mind. What works for some may or may not work for other's applications. With that said, I'm quite pleased with this safe!

Informative.

The nicest thing about your blog is that you focus on the storage device (very much needed) and avoid the "good gun/bad gun" debate (which is a never ending and never won argument no matter what side you're on).

My son is looking for the best gun safe. I'm going to point him to your blog for information and recommendations.
